I think most people assume more when they hear the word goals.
More productive.
More connection.
More wealth.
More health.
And I think that’s partly why I label myself a goal skeptic.
I’m not going to complain if more comes into my life. But striving for those things — more hustle (the other word I associate with goals) — doesn’t motivate me.
Well, it motivates me straight to a nap under a warm blanket.
What would happen if we imagined goal-setting about less? Or enough?

What becomes possible when we think about what truly matters, and use a goal structure to carve our values into our lives — not by doing, being, or getting more (necessarily) — but by creating a focus so aligned with who we are that it naturally pulls us forward?
Almost like a magnet.
When we look at our lives and overlay the future, there are so many competing messages telling us what we should want and where we should be headed.
No wonder we get bored or burnt out by those goals within 45 days.
The hustle isn’t going to get us the life we want — not in the long term.
Here’s what I believe about goals:
- Goals represent us imagining a future that is compelling and fulfilling.
- Goals set a path that gives us guidance and feedback.
- Goals are about intention and motion — not achievement.
Maybe the most magnetic goals aren’t about reaching higher.
They’re about listening closer—to what already pulls at our hearts.
P.S. That’s exactly what we’ll be doing in Magnetize 2026, starting next week.
Join us to create goals that align with your values and invite more ease into the year ahead.
