“Word” of the year

I took myself on a field trip to the Quilt Shop this morning. It was a field trip – and

not shopping – because my sole purpose of being there was to be around the

fabric and to fall in love. No particular projects to shop for. No particular tools

needed. Just an hour or so in a place that makes me breathe slowly and deeply,

and ignites my mind with ideas and possibilities.

Guys. I bought a WHOLE BOLT of fabric. Yes, it was on sale (clearance even),

but I’ve never seen a fabric and known that I needed it all. This print by

ShelleySDavies pulled me into a dance, whirled me around, and begged to

come home with me.

As I talked to the ladies cutting my fabric, I joked “You know how some people

come up with a word for the year? Maybe I won’t do that this year, but I’ll let this

fabric be my 2025 symbol/invitation.”

The more I thought about it on the drive home, the more I liked that plan. The

energy, creativity, boldness, and play that I hope for 2025 – my ‘word’ for 2025.

What about you? Are you choosing a word? Setting a goal? Have you ever

considered choosing something else to signify the way you are stepping into the

new year?
