My go-to dictionary is Merriam Webster. One of the flavors of my love affair with words is to know ALL that a word means, and to peak around at uses of the word that I might not have considered. I’m also quite fond of tracing a words origins (and do not have a single go-to source for etymology).

While writing my post “What is Home”, I wondered what MW might tell me that I hadn’t considered.

I especially like to consider the verbs and phrases. There was no NEW information about Home in this definition and examples. But it is such a common easy word that I don’t often consider all the angles and colors that the four letters hold.

This summer I found what is currently my favorite definition of home – and it wasn’t from a dictionary. We watched The Wiz on a Saturday night, and I found myself clapping at what Glinda (or her writers) had to say about Home.
